Sponsored by the Desi Geestman Foundation
and the Big Tujunga Veterinary Hospital

Heaven, a native of Cleveland, Tennessee, works for Dr. Ed Ancu at the Big Tujunga Veterinary Hospital. At Walker Valley HS in Cleveland she was an honors student, a member of the Circle of Champions, played the euphonium, trombone and baritone in the marching band, and was a member of the high school state championship bowling team. Heaven was a Red Cross volunteer
at Bradley Memorial Hospital and belonged to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. A 2005 graduate, she spent her senior year in a dual enrollment program with Cleveland State Community College. After graduation she moved to Southern California to escape the humidity, to experience life in a different part of our country, get a good job and to improve herself.
She has always loved animals and had lots of pets growing up - she recalls having as many as 18 dogs at one time. She wanted to work at the Vet Hospital because she enjoys working with animals and helping them. She would like to become a nurse practitioner and is taking classes at Glendale Community College. In her spare time she boxes (at home), swims and goes to the movies. She is engaged to Sgt. Tony Davila, a recruiting officer in the California National Guard. Her future plans include a career, marriage, four kids and LOTS of animals.

Tickets can be purchased in support of Heaven at The Patchwork Penguin, 6540 Foothill Blvd., and the Big Tujunga Veterninary Hospital, 6934 Foothill, Tujunga.

Princess Eryn Severino
Sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 315, Girl Scout Troop 820 and Operation Walk erynsface

Eryn, a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes School in Tujunga, is a junior at Laurel Springs School and a Girl Scout/Sea Scout (BSA) with Senior Troop Mystic Yankee in the San Fernando Valley. She enjoys waterskiing, traveling, listening to music, going to movies and hanging out with friends. She has previously participated in Notre Dame High School's basketball team and swim team. She is the recipient of the Coaches' Award in basketball. In addition, she was a host sister to a Lions Club Youth Exchange Program participant from Finland plus a young lady from Spain who visited California last summer as part of EF (English First) Educational Homestay Programs. This year she is hosting 3 exchange students through the EF program - a boy from China, a boy from France and a girl from Russia. Eryn would like to become a forensic scientist and is interested in attending Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

The members of Boy Scout Troop 315 and Girl Scout Troop 820 are proud to sponsor Eryn Severino this year as their candidate for the Watermelon Festival Queen. The money raised will be used to provide camperships and allow the troops to defray scouting expenses.

To support the scouting program, tickets may be purchased through Symphony Mortgage Co., 818-367-4235.

Junior Princess Christine Choi
Sponsored by the Sierra Madre Girls Softball Association and Operation Walk

Christine will be a freshman this coming fall at Polytechnic High School in Pasadena. Her interests include singing and arts and crafts. She has been in her middle school concert choir for the past three years. This year she has been selected to sing in an opera called Keepers of the Night as one of the members of the Los Angeles Children's Choir (LACC). Her other hobbies include reading, volleyball and softball.

Her future goal is to become a chidren's dentist because she was treated so horribly by her first dentist that she has vowed never to let any child under her care to be frightened. She has been volunteering this past summer at the Beverly Dental Center during weekends. She hopes to sell as many tickets as possible for the Watermelon Festival so that the Lions will have money that can be used to educate impoverished children in our community.

The winner of the contest for Watermelon Queen '07 will be announced on August 8 at the Coronation Reception.
